Connecting with an audience often means telling stories, asking questions and providing release. Few actions are more gratifying than the ability to touch others through art. The captivating patterns and colors of animals, flowers and food make them photographer's favorites - myself included. However, my new work takes me to the beach where colors are subtle and the Earth's layers so apparent. Ironically, seaside textures frequently suggest the desert but for the life teeming in every inch.
What good fortune to find abundant unexpected beauty, and be able to share it easily and globally. A smile, a laugh, a gasp, even just a thoughtful pause at the sight of one of my photos, makes me feel as though my "hard work ain't been in vain for nothin'." - Lajla LeBlanc

Frogs & Toads slide show (42)
My husband and I created a memorial to my late-mother with a fountain featuring water-spitting lions and a pool with koi. This "terrazz-ina" has become home to scores of frogs who sunbathe alone, in couples & in piles. I frequently find upon closer inspection of my photos that there are barely visible frogs blending into the rocks and plants.

Sixty2 on Wharf slide show (30)
Sixty2 on Wharf is the hippest, tastiest restaurant in Salem, MA and Salem's home to some seriously good dining experiences. It is an honor to shoot the food, drink and process of people who are genuinely passionate about food. From fresh pumpkin puree in their ambrosial pumpkiin martinis to homemade breads and pastas and chick pea fritters with fig jam, everything tastes as good as it looks.

Then & Now: From Brownies To Bytes slide show (49)
This gallery exhibits Lajla's work from Then & Now: From Brownies to Bytes, a journey from the 1930’s, when Kodak encouraged new photographers with free Brownie cameras, to today’s excess of cameras as disposable toys, impulse items and add-on technology. Photographs both traditional and digital by Albert Sylvestre and Lajla LeBlanc were displayed Sept 1 -24, 2005 at the Jaffrey Civic Center.
Web Sights: New Places to Wear Diamonds slide show (61)
PLEASE CLICK ON THESE PHOTOS TO SEE THE DETAIL. What a gift. During two consecutive morning "walkies" with my dog in the same field where we always walk (the field was mowed on the third day), I discovered these spectacular spider webs dripping with dew. More beautiful than any necklace, tiara or chandelier, they remind me of Marilyn Monroe's famous line from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes: "I just love finding new places to wear diamonds."
